Living the Dream

Karen and BobWelcome to our adventure!

For years, my life has been dedicated to helping people put down roots. As a Certified Mortgage Loan Advisor, I’ve had the immense privilege of guiding countless families through the exciting journey of home purchases and helping with refinance strategies that improved my clients' overall finances.

While I'm not yet ready to retire, I am ready to take action on our dream of traveling on wheels. With our two furry co-pilots, Ella Mae and Jake Truman, we're taking our remote work on the road in our Grand Design Imagine RV. On this blog, you'll get a front-row seat to our adventures, complete with our favorite pictures, gear reviews, and the lessons we learn along the way.

We want to be upfront: you may see some recommendations of products that have worked well for us.  They may have direct links for you to purchase if you feel it may also help you with  your adventure.  These links are affiliate links. This means we might earn a small commission if you make a purchase, at no extra cost to you. We promise to only share things we truly believe in and that have helped us on our own journey.

Welcome to our Travel Adventure Blog!  We're the Jones family, and we're figuring it out one mile at a time. We hope our journey inspires you to find your own adventure, big or small. Thanks for following along!

Benson, AZ: The Wild West & Unexpected Gems

Our second trip took us to Benson, Arizona, with a mission to explore Tombstone and keep learning the ropes of our RV. The KOA campground was… well, let's just say it looked a lot nicer online! The desert landscape didn't have many trees, but it did have a fantastic doggie park.

The doggie park was a highlight, thanks to some cool agility toys and a very much enjoyed unexpected encounter. A little puppy showed up that looked and acted exactly like our Jake! They did the same playful dance, pawing at the ground and mirroring each other's moves. It was absolutely adorable. The only downside was the thorny landscape, which was tough on all of our paws. Ella just watched from the side, as if to say, “are you kidding me?”

We skipped the Kartchner caverns due to my hip, but we did visit Tombstone. We got a great dose of history on a bus tour. The real surprise of the trip was the auto tour of Chiricahua National Monument. The mountain formations were absolutely beautiful and completely took us by surprise. Best of all, we got to bring Ella Mae and Jake Truman along since we’re still working up the courage to leave them alone in the RV.

This trip taught us that even when things don't go as planned, you can still find amazing surprises on the road!
